"Deleted my comment and blocked me on their Facebook post so thought I’d tell my story here!. Shame on you Forest Dog Rescue, you should never put money before animals6 years ago I rescued a 6 month old Rottweiler from them the very day he arrived, they told me they didn’t want him to stay in the kennels because he was a puppy, fair enough, they came and viewed my home and garden that day and I paid Ā£250 and bought him home the same day. I had owned Rottweilers all my adult life, they are an amazing breed. Unfortunately Reggie wasn’t housetrained like I was told, in fact he had never lived indoors,he was terrified of everything in the house. With lots of hard work and reassurance over the next 5 months he became the most loveable caring dog we could have wished for,his training,re call and commands were amazing and a testament to how far he had come,a true big gentle giant. Until, one day we introduced my newborn granddaughter to him,he was reactive. No big problem I thought,he hadn’t actually done anything harmful, I didn’t give him chance to. He instantly came away when I called him, and I knew straight aware I needed a dog behaviour specialist to step in,I contacted Forest dog rescue for advice and recommendations on the matter. I didn’t want them to pay just if they could recommend anyone before I searched for one. They weren’t interested in helping me in the slightest but insisted I return him immediately, again I explained that he hadn’t actually done anything wrong but they just wouldn’t listen and again insisted I return him and that I couldn’t take him for behaviour therapy. I paid Ā£250 for Reggie and although I didn’t want my money back I felt very let down by their refusal for me to get help for him, genuinely wish I’d never have contacted them in the first place. All I wanted was a recommendation but ended up having to take him back, where I was assured he would be reassessed, bare in mind he hadn’t been assessed in the first place, not only that but he was rehomed within a week. I wouldn’t believe a word these people say, I get the feeling if Reggie had been a crossbreed they would have done everything possible for me to keep him, but because he was a pedigree dog they could easily get another Ā£250 for him. That isn’t dog rescue it’s money revenue and a disgusting way to run any rescue, the animals interests should always come first. He was an amazing dog and I will always cherish the very short 5 months I got to spend with him."

"Absolutely awful. Dirty conditions for the dogs. Dirty blankets. Half of the dogs didn’t even have any type of bedding! Dogs on freezing cold concrete! Staff are absolutely shocking towards dogs and customers! Very ungrateful when customers dropping off donations and the member of staff called Emma S was very rude and unpleasant when in the shop purchasing items to help them out!!"

"An amazing rescue centre with the dogs best interests truly at heart. I found beautiful Rose at Forest Dog Rescue who I'm very happy to be adopting this week. The staff have been welcoming and really helpful throughout the whole process, introducing me to Rose at their lovely country-based centre and answering every query I've brought to them, big and small. I admire the work they do immensely and wish them all the best!"

"Forest Dog Rescue is an excellent rescue kennels with caring and understanding staff who are committed to the welfare of the animals who come to them with the intention of matching them to the perfect new homes. I recently took on a temporary foster dog with the intention of assessing him in the home environment, as his behavior in kennels meant he wasn't able to be put up for adoption. He turned out to be a wonderful, loving dog with the right people, and the staff helped every step of the way, maintaining communication and offering advice. Working in kennels can be a heart-wrenching job, however these folks do an incredible task ensuring every animal is as happy as can be."

"Forest dog rescue is a great charity, we did volunteer dog walking with my son before finally getting matched with the perfect dog for our family. Staff are amazing and offer lots of additional support. There are so many dogs needing a second chance."
