"I could not recommend East Midlands Dog Rescue more highly. We have successfully adopted a puppy, after a really rigorous vetting process - we appreciate why this is so important and they were fully transparent about these when we came to visit. The Centre offer so much support during the adoption process and beyond (which is why they want dogs rehomed locally), and they genuinely want the best outcomes for the dogs they care for. Such a wonderful place where all of the dogs are loved and cared for, we are supremely grateful to them. 100% recommend and canāt thank them enough for trusting us with our new family member, and also for all the work they do."

We initially went to look at another dog but persevered and have been blessed with such a gentle, loving dog. Sandy and Linda have been so helpful and attentive. We completed our two week foster period and knew he was the perfect dog for us. There is a process which they follow for the well being of the dogs and they know what they are doing. What a wonderful place, we heartily recommend them to anyone looking to re-home a dog."

It is obvious that the welfare of their 'rescues' is of paramount importance to all the Staff ensuring that their four footed friends find a happy new home.I have no hesitate to recommend them highly to anyone looking to adopt a dog. They work tirelessly and look after all the dogs with aplomb. Please of support and always there if you need advise. We feel very fortunate to have found (Maltese) Ruby, she has settled down very quickly, a great addition to our family. Now living the life of a princess."

I think some of the reviewers here have entirely unrealistic expectations and forget this is a not for profit charity trying to find the very best homes for the dogs under their care. A lot of these dogs have come from very challenging backgrounds, so it is only right the charity ensure you are the right fit to ensure the dog has the best shot at a second chance.Sandy has been absolutely fantastic with me, and the whole process was made incredibly clear - from the off like everyone else I popped by on a Wednesday morning to see the dogs in their care. I spotted a group of gorgeous Pug crosses, clearly broken spirited and very nervous. I put an interest form in - and Sandy got back to me to arrange a private session. You can see how well looked after and cared for the dogs in this shelter are. I have been back a few times, and each time the staff and volunteers were so incredibly friendly and interested in all of the dogs.Over a number of occasions I went to visit the dogs, and was asked if I'd like to foster Daisy for two weeks. Of course! This is a brilliant idea to ensure it works for both the dog and the potential new guardian.I am pleased to say as of today, I have adopted Daisy. She has been an absolute pleasure and I couldn't imagine life without her.Thank you to East Midlands Dog Rescue, you have changed my life and I can't wait to continue giving Daisy the best life I possibly can ā¤ļø"
a year ago"A brilliant rescue ran by two brilliant ladies and some great volunteers. Every dog goes into the rescue broken and sad, but leaves a completely new dog full of energy. The amount of effort and care put into making these poor dogsā lives better and giving them the right homes is astounding. A few years ago we adopted our gorgeous dog Tilly, and a couple years after that we adopted handsome little Rodney. As some of the other reviews suggest, it is a lengthy process and can take some time, however this is because they have to ensure the dog goes to the best home for them.I can understand the frustration of not being able to take one of the lovely dogs home, but it is blatantly obvious when this is the reason people feel the need to leave a poor review and it just seems bitter and entitled. How many of the people who have adopted dogs leave poor reviews? Absolutely none. Why? Because they are the people who can appreciate what Sandy and Lynne do for these dogs without being indignant and without letting their own interests get in the way. Personally, I think most of the poor reviews given are just people being angry that they arenāt the right person for a dog and instead of trying again, showing commitment and dedication, they leave negative reviews to make themselves feel better. On top of that, Sandy and Lynne are two of the nicest people to walk this earth. Lots of these poor reviews include criticism about how these ladies are ābluntā and ārudeā⦠How about this? They are VERY busy ladies. They run a dog rescue. They cannot tend to all of your needs, the 50+ other people that come AND the needs of all the dogs on open mornings. Iāve never experienced them EVER being rude, but if you have, maybe think ātheyāre probably just busyā and take into consideration the fact that they have to look after and rehome many dogs a month, make sure the open mornings are running smoothly, on top of all the home checks, vet visits, grooming, paperwork etc. that needs to be done. The dogs are the most important thing in that rescue and the dogsā interests are what the ladies care about the most. If they donāt think that you are the right person for a dog, try not to take it personally and feel the need to slander the rescue in the reviews, think of it as āwhat is best for the dogā which is what truly matters at a rescue centre. On a more positive note, I have been volunteering at the rescue since November 2023 and have loved every second of it. I get to meet new dogs, new people, and make friends (both dog and human) for life. I have the first hand experience of working with these dogs and I can tell you that we try our absolute hardest for these dogs. Every volunteer puts every ounce of energy into caring for them and ensuring they are happy, healthy and safe. Please understand that Wednesdays and Sundays can get very busy and do not worry if we canāt find the time to speak to you. Just fill out an application form with as much information and detail as possible and keep your fingers crossed. If you are not selected for the dog, it does not rule you out for future dogs (unless you write negative reviews because of itš)Thank you Sandy and Lynne and all the volunteers for everything you do for these dogs."
