About This Centre

Helping Yorkshire Poundies is a small, hard working dog rescue - we rescue and care for dogs from council pounds, direct from owners in desperate need of help, dogs from vets who would otherwise be euthanised and the police who seize dogs due to welfare concerns.PLEASE NOTE: we are a small team of two - we have hundreds of applications, messages and emails daily and although we read every single one, we are, regrettably, currently unable to reply to everyone.

"After seeing little Billy's face on their Facebook, I fell in love instantly, I just knew that Billy was meant to be a part of our family. I sent over a generic application initially as Billy was still in the holding kennels and wasn't on the care of HYP. A week later and Billy was in their care, they had to do the relevant checks on Billy first so they could make sure he was rehomed with the right family and on his description it said he could go with children aged 12+. I emailed again because I had two slightly younger children, I asked if we could do a meet with Billy first to test how he is with the children and they accepted! Myself and my husband went first to meet Billy to make sure we was happy with him, then the following day, we went back with the kids and have another very successful meet with Billy. He was 100% meant to be ours. We was over joyed when our home check was successful and when they said he was officially ours! We can't wait to take Billy to his forever home today! He is going ti have the best life with us! HYP have been faultless through the whole process. They make sure the dogs come first. They are well looked after by a small team that care deeply about their dogs. Please ignore any negative reviews as the majority of these are just people with unsuccessful applications and haven't actually had any interaction with HYP. Please be patient with them too, they are a small charity after all and not some big corporate business. We can't wait to keep then updated with Billy's progress with us in the future! Thank you so much! Billy is going to have the best life with us! 🐾❤️"

"Absolutely amazing. They are so caring They do an amazing job with the dogs that they get in. We adopted a dog from them and he is such a good boy. I dread to think what would happen to these poor dogs. Please help and look at what they do."

"We got our little man from these guys, can not thank them enough for saving him for us, without them we would never have met the best friend we never knew we needed."

"I have rescued three dogs through this charity and have found them to be really supportive and helpful making sure that I had behavioural support when I had issues with introducing a new dog My current dogs both had extensive health care needs whilst in rescue and this was all managed in the dogs best interests and not down to costs Hyps is a tiny rescue working so hard to help as many dogs as possible and always support those in need, they also work hard so that the new homes found are the best ones for the dog"

"A small rescue with a large following, but none the less only a few volunteers, who work tirelessly saving dogs from various situations. A lot of time, sweat and tears goes into helping these dogs. Sarah and her volunteers, go above and beyond, often working 7 days a week to ensure dogs are saved. Dog rescue isn't easy, and my hat goes off to them all for all the work they do, especially when so many people like to leave negative reviews, slate people and get upset about not always receiving a reply. Some dogs have hundreds of applications, of which some homes are not suitable! Imagine spending time, replying to every single one of those, instead of focusing on saving a dog's life! I know what I would prefer! So before writing a comment, or a review, think about why you are. If it is because your feelings are hurt, then give your head a wobble. Get off your phone/tablet/laptop and go and help a rescue. Walk dogs, fundraise, go to kennels and clean, feed dogs, offer your time. The work people do in rescue is hard. It's heartbreaking and every person on a rescue page SHOULD support, not criticise. What an amazing place the world would be with more people like Sarah and Volunteers! Hope to see all you negative Nellie's in your wellies walking those rescue dogs soon!"
