Poppy (was Peaches) was a shut down, scared little dog rescued from the streets of Bristol when Gilly from Starfish took her into her home and within a week of being loved and cared for she began to emerge into the amazing little dog she was always meant to be. The whole process of adoption was based on how well our family fitted Poppy’s personality and needs. The whole process although centered around the needs of the dog was also made as smooth as possible for us too. After a drive up from Devon we were met with a much needed hot cuppa and a warm kitchen full of happy dogs before we all set of for a walk in the woods to get to know each other - dogs and humans! Gilly and the team also remain on hand to help with any queries and are always pleased to get updates on progress. "I’ve had Lola now for just over a week now and it’s like she has been with me forever. She settled in incredibly well and there’s no doubt that this was helped immensely by the kind and loving foster care provided by Jackie and Rob while Lola recovered from her operations and continued to be assessed. I met Lola quite soon after she came into the care of Starfish and I immediately knew she was the one for me but also knew that she had quite a journey to bring her back to full health and fitness under the care of Starfish and their wonderful vets. During Lola’s time in foster care, I received daily updates, photos and videos and I also made further visits to spend time with her. I couldn’t wait until she had healed and was able to come to me. The time, devotion and work that Gilly and her dedicated team of foster carers put in is second to none, and their number one priority is finding the best possible homes for the dogs that come into their care. Thank you, Gilly, Jackie & Rob for the loving care provided to Lola and for providing the opportunity for me to adopt this beautiful girl into her forever home. She is an absolute joy and I am looking forward to our long and happy future together.
