About This Centre
At Mane Chance we work to relieve the suffering of animals, in particular but not exclusively horses. We provide an equine therapeutic environment to help children, young people and vulnerable people, suffering from physical and/or mental disability. With our support we can enable them to participate more fully in society; as well as increasing the confidence and capacity of children, young people and vulnerable people through interaction with the horses. We are not open to the public every day - you can only visit if you are booked for an organised event, or if you have made an appointment.

Real Experiences
"Where do I start! ❤️ I adopted a horse as a Christmas present for my daughter who absolutely LOVES horses! However, the welcome pack must have got lost in the post! Therefore I emailed Mane Sanctuary to let them know. To my surprise, less than 24 hours later, Jackie and Maria arrived at my home address with a new welcome pack just so my daughter could receive this in time for Christmas!! 🎄 How incredibly lovely! Not only did they travel nearly 50 minutes, they made sure my daughter’s Christmas present would be here for Christmas Day! I genuinely cannot thank them enough! We are so excited to come and Visit our chosen horse and see all the amazing work you do for these wonderful animals. To everyone at Mane Sanctuary, we hope you have the most amazing Christmas 🎄 and a huge thank you again to Jackie and Maria ❤️"

(And also provides equine therapy to children with additional needs?) Anyway… On to my review…I LOVE Mane Chance. It feels like a sanctuary for me whenever I go, it’s like a hidden oasis. Every single staff member or volunteer are so friendly and welcoming, it’s a real oxytocin boost every time I go. I have sponsored various horses, and get to visit them regularly. They are so well looked after.Their ethos is to essentially let their horses be horses, because they have been through enough in life already, they do not owe humans anything and aren’t treated as a commodity. No horses are ridden, and their handlers listen to their horses. If the horse doesn’t want to interact, the handler (and visitor!) steps away. If a horse doesn’t want to do something, they wait until they are ready. They respect the horses for the intelligent animals they are and allow them to overcome their individual traumas. The 2 dogs who are sometimes present are lovely and so well behaved, and it’s always a bonus to see them! The sanctuary also have little rescue battery chickens who are thriving too.I love their little shop there, I enjoy perusing whilst having a cup of tea! It’s just such a wonderful place, I would definitely recommend sponsoring a horse, it’s a great cause and it’s a wonderful day out that I look forward to every time I am invited there. Please see photos from some of my visits :) this is the older herd but there are other herds too such as the minis and family of cobs."
a year ago"I took a group of 14 to Mane Chance Sanctuary back in the Autumn. Jenny Seagrove gave up a morning to talk to us all and explain the work of the Sanctuary. - we were thrilled to have her talk to us, particularly as she was appearing nightly at the Theatre Royal Windsor. Our group of mainly women from all over the world (we are an International Women's Group) were absolutely spellbound. We loved seeing the ponies and horses in such comfortable surroundings and hearing about the amazing charitable work the Sanctuary does with disabled children, and the elderly. The volunteers speak for the whole charity with their cheerful demeanour and hard work. I cannot recommend this lovely peaceful place more."
