About This Centre
National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) Essex was originally set up by Ann and Reg Sims in 1984 as Clacton Animal Aid. It was entrusted to the National Animal Welfare Trust in October 2011 following the Sims retirement after 25 dedicated years of service. Based in Little Clacton, we are a rescue and rehoming centre, finding loving new homes for homeless and unwanted dogs and cats.

Real Experiences
"Unfortunately had to give my beloved dog up as I was evicted and moved in temporary accommodation. They took really good care of him and kept me updated. Fortunately he was adopted just after 1 week. Really amazing organisation"
3 months ago"I hired the paddock for my dog to have some good exercise off the lead. It was great! My dog loved being able to run around and I didn't have to worry about other dogs. The staff are all very friendly and do amazing jobs"
a year ago"We have been looking to adopt a whippet from NAWT Clacton, and things seemed to be going well until a home visit was arranged. The subsequent phone call was a 'no', because my neighbour's children had two guinea pigs, in hutches, on the other side of a 2 metre high fence. Total nonsense, I say, and I've had dogs since 1977. It should be Naught, not NAWT."

3 months ago"Highly recommended. We got our beloved Percy here and we'll be forever gratefu lto NAWT for taking care of him until we found him."
