About This Centre

Blue Highlands is a unique centre which marries three distinct aims: 24 Hour Crisis Intervention/Rehabiliation Conservation/Wild Release & Endangered Species Restoration NOT PUBLIC—CRISIS INTAKE ONLY Whilst each of these programmes are wholly separate and represent goals particular to their individual aims, they compliment one another in such a way as to strengthen them all. Each of these programmes are worthy on their own, but this three-pronged effort results in a far greater long term impact than any one of them could achieve alone. The trackable, tangible impact upon avian ecology is far better served when approached in such a manner. It’s been our philosophy for 34 years & the int’l programmes have gone from strength to strength.

"We found a pigeon with a broken wing. We initially phoned the local vet who asked us to take it in, but advised it more than likely be humanely euthanised. We didn't want that, luckily my husband discovered Blue Highlands online and gave them a phone. The lady was very helpful and asked us to take it to their sanctuary. Once we dropped the bird off we discovered owners of the rescue centre have 30+ years experience in rescue and that birds with broken wings can be healed and released back into the wild. This is a no kill shelter, so any birds that can't be released stay there to be looked after by the marvelous team. Such great work that they do."

"Charlie is my Senegal Parrot unfortunately has an issue with the base of his heel on his left leg causing pain and bleeding I frantically looked for an Avian Vet, which after many phone calls and cry outs on social media realised that Vets were hard to come by in the highlands, though thankfully found one who helped pain relief. Charlie was amazingly offered help from Blue Highlands Raptor Rescue Avian & Conservation Centre today. It feels like a weigh has been lifted off my shoulders, there is nothing like the feeling of helplessness however hard you try. His pain is my pain and more which he senses and I can’t control. Tonight Charlie was feeling better and I much more positive. We have now been blessed with the help from the most genuinely caring, knowledgeable and honest team of people dedicated to help and support all birds in need. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Charlie & Sally. xx"

"What an excellent place. This is a true sanctuary, offering medical treatment and rehab for our much loved wild birds (not only birds of prey & raptors). Support them when you can as they are always needing funds to continue their great work."
