About This Centre

Waggy Tails Rescue is a registered charity based near Poole and Bournemouth. The Waggy Tails story is about happy dogs, happy people and happy homes. We always put the animal first – then the rest will follow. We have a no destruction policy. No healthy animal is ever put to sleep, which means that as well as re-homing we also look after dogs in long term foster homes. These tend to be dogs who are too ill or too old to be re-homed but we feel that these “oldies” have a right to a dignified and happy retirement. We need foster homes and sponsorship for our “oldies” whose vets bills are consistently high!We generally rehome within around 30 miles of our sanctuary, please see our website for our other adoption criteria.

"Waggy Tails Dog Rescue in Wimborne were absolutely wonderful with our little Chorkie, Daisy. They have such a good, caring procedure in place and were very quick to offer help when so many others had let us down. My partner was extremely sensitive during the handover, and the team dealt with it with such care, patience, and understanding that it really put us at ease. We’re so grateful for the kindness and professionalism they showed throughout the whole process. Daisy is a happy little soul thanks to them, and we can’t thank Waggy Tails enough for everything they do."

"I do not understand these bad reviews. This place is wonderful. They are professional and care deeply for their animals. We got our doggy from here and we attended the meeting, had someone over the next week to see the house, a week later we met with our potential doggy again, a few days later a home visit and we got him a few days after that. Everything ran smoothly. They are so helpful and if we ever wanted a second rescue dog we would definitely come here again. Thank you for all the hard work you do for these doggies and for our Samson (Dave) ❤"

"In November 2021, we bought our 1st staffie home from a home in Wales. At the time, I was working from home 5 days a week, but 6 month's later I was told we had to go back to the office 2-3 times a week. I didn't want to leave my girl on her own so I looked at rescuing a dog from Waggy tails as it is a 15 minute walk up the road. I filled out the paperwork, but was told that I didn't fit the criteria as I had a rabbit, cats, my grandaughter who is under 12 came to visit about once a month, and I would be working 8 hrs a day. I was really disappointed as they had not even seen my house, looked at how my animals are cared for, or even wished to meet us in person. A month later after making an application for a 6 month old female dog in Bulgaria, I received a phone call asking me to send videos of my dogs interaction with other dogs, my dogs training abilities, my garden and home, and the area I live in for walks. I discussed about my other animals and my grandaughter, and within a week I had a video call about a dog who was from a litter of 9, who was a little anxious. We had no hesitation and he was with us the following month. My staffie showed him the ropes, taught him right from wrong, and were best friends from day 1. He is the most loving dog ever. I don't know much about his background except the mother had a litter of 9 and were found on the side of the road by a German family. He has 23 breeds in his DNA, has learnt to round up sheep, but most of all I'm so happy that I was able to give this dog a chance to enjoy life. Its just sad that Waggy tails didn't give us a chance, didn't take the time to meet us or even consider finding a dog who they feel would be suitable."

"Recently adopted from Waggytails. Everyone we met has been very kind and professional. We received great advice on settling in and dog ownership. The vetting and matching process is comprehensive and thorough, ensuring the dog's fit with our family. Highly recommend as a rescue charity"

"I have been supporting Waggy tails for ten years. Donating so much to The shop. I called a couple of weeks ago for the first time about a dog. The woman was grumpy and rude for no reason. Couldn’t believe that’s how you speak to people. The system for applying for a dog is also ridiculous. So disappointed. Won’t be supporting anymore."
