About This Centre
Our West Yorkshire branch of the Greyhound Trust has homed hundreds of these wonderful dogs since we began our efforts in 2000. We have a wealth of experience behind us & work hard at 'matchmaking' - helping you to find just the right companion for your individual circumstances. And whether you are an 'old hand' or a first-time dog owner in need of support, we are always just a phone call away. Still young when their racing careers end, these amazing retired athletes adapt so well to life as a pet, being generally people-loving, laid-back, calm and needing only a couple of short walks each day. What they DO need is love and security ... So CONTACT US to find out more about homing a greyhound!

Real Experiences
"Karen was a supportive , well read , knowledgeable lead volunteer . She carefully matched us with our beloved greyhound Daffy who had been waiting patiently for a forever home for 16 months . She guided me throughout the process and kept in touch to support our dog settling In . Support and advice was well received. An excellent professional empathic supportive charity - the dogs were also well looked after at the kennels . Thank you"
10 months ago"Fantastic bunch of people - The dogs are in great shape, the Trust match the dog to potential owners - Book an appointment and spend some time with the dogs, play and take them for a walk. All this so you will get a dog for life and you will love it for ever - I know we will -"
6 years ago"An excellent service. Kath ensures that you are matched with the perfect dog, and you have access to friendly guidance and support throughout the settling period. We can't recommend them enough!"
a year ago"A very good experience from beginning to end. The process of vetting was gone through thoroughly and without incident. A long conversation with Kath helped to make sure we got the right dog. I would highly recommend, if you are serious about owning a greyhound."
2 years ago"Kath is a wonderful lady, who cares very very much about animal welfare, especially greyhounds. We chose Larry yesterday, (now named Freddie) & he has settled in really well,. He is a big part of our family now & he gives us so much joy. He has had lots of lovely small walks. He is a gentle giant & a true gentleman. He loves his bed, his food, etc. I have never known a dog, when picking up the lead & saying walkies, decides to retire to his bed. He is very laid back. He is getting used to the car now. When we opened the door for him to jump in, he just stood & looked at the door, then at us, as though to say "what do I do ". We helped him put his front paws on the seat & helped lift him in. & he just chilled on the back seat. Extremely good. Thank you, Kath , for all your help in choosing a forever home, for these lovely animals. 🐾❤🐾"
