Real Experiences
"Rehomed a dog (Rocky, a Chow Chow cross) from here some 16 months ago and, save for one point, I was very impressed and grateful for all the time and effort the centre and its staff put into ensuring animals in their care are rehomed suitably, including allowing me to visit Rocky several times at the centre before rehoming him.The only reason I've deducted a star is that I never received a follow-up/'how are you and Rocky getting on ?' call after I rehomed him. Not that it was necessary in my case as Rocky is very happy and we get on great, but I'd hope that for some reason I was the exception that slipped through the net, as to me it's very important for both the animal which has been rehomed and the person rehoming the pet to be contacted within a couple of weeks to establish how things are going."

3 months ago"Dear RSPCA Team,I recently visited your centre to donate my late dog Charlieās belongings. Charlie was 15½ and very dear to us, so this was an emotional visit. The receptionist kindly thanked me for the donations before taking a phone call, and another lady also expressed her thanks, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience still felt impersonal. A member of staff sitting behind the receptionist area had a very canāt-be-bothered attitude ā she could clearly see me waiting yet made no effort to acknowledge or approach me. There were no words of sympathy, which made the visit feel transactional rather than caring. In contrast, when I donated to the Dogs Trust, I was met with warmth and genuine appreciation, which made a big difference during such a difficult time. Itās led me to cancel my RSPCA membership donations and support the Dogs Trust instead.Iām sharing this feedback in the hope that future visitorsāespecially those donating in memory of a beloved petāwill feel more comforted and valued.Kind regards, AD"
